The Arsenal data team gave Bryan Mbuumo a very high rating; the club strongly thought about making a move, but landing him was never likely this summer.

According to Team News and Ticks on Patreon, Arsenal seriously considered trying to buy Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo during the summer transfer season.Liverpool target surprise Mohamed Salah replacement with Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo emerging as cut-price alternative | Goal.com Cameroon

The Gunners account on X (previously known as Twitter), which is well-known for leaking team news online and is followed by Dharmesh Sheth, David Ornstein, Fabrizio Romano, and Gary Jacobs, has been a reliable source for all things Arsenal for months. He also gave an update on some of the transfers the Gunners were unable to complete last month.

Although Mbeumo was very high on the North London club’s data team’s desire list, a summer transfer for him was never guaranteed.

The 25-year-old finished the previous season with nine league goals and six assists, and he has three goals in his first three Premier League games of 2024–25.

Mbeumo scored nine league goals and contributed eight assists in 2022–23; Arsenal would have benefited greatly from having an attacker of that calibre join their squad.

Nevertheless, as soon as it was apparent that Ivan Toney was departing, the Bees would have turned down any offer for the Cameroon international. The Gunners may continue to monitor Mbeumo and make a play for him in the summer if necessary, but Brentford would not have been prepared to lose two important attackers in a single window.

He helped the London team secure Premier League promotion in 2020–21 with eight goals and 10 assists in 47 Championship games, and he hasn’t stopped since.

Due to Toney, the former Troyes star has mainly gone unnoticed. However, if he were to play for one of the major teams, he would probably score at least 15 league games annually, and he is expected to score at least ten goals this season in the league.

Raheem Sterling, an England international, was eventually signed by Arsenal on loan from Chelsea. Mikel Arteta, the manager, will be hoping the former Manchester City player makes an immediate impact.
