Kris Boyd has responded to Chris Sutton’s claim that Rangers’ wheels may have gone off following their defeat to Ross County on Sunday (14 April).
Speaking on Sky Sports Football on Sunday (02:35pm), Boyd advised Sutton to “behave” as he believed the wheels had not fallen off for the Gers and backed Philippe Clement to get his side back to their best despite a 3-2 loss in Dingwall.
But the pundit wasn’t impressed by the Light Blues’ performance in what he believes is a “massive blow” for them as he accused some of the players of “not doing their jobs properly”.
“In terms of their form away from home, Rangers have conceded before today just five times and then three all in the one game,” said Eilidh Barbour. “It is quite an incredible collapse, it’s something we have not seen from Rangers on the road really this season, to be quite so open defensively and concede.”
“Are the wheels coming off?” asked Sutton.
“You behave,” replied Boyd. “Rangers were just so disjointed. They struggled to deal with runners from midfield. If you look at the goals again, they are all over the place. You’ve got people sliding in, you’ve got people running back towards their goal, not tackling, not doing their jobs properly.
“Recently they’ve stopped doing the simple things. Ross County were excellent, deserved their three points. It’s a massive blow for Rangers, but you’ve got to look at Philippe Clement and think that he will get this team back firing during the week, so the answer is no, the wheels haven’t come off.”

That outcome has dealt a severe blow to Rangers’ ambitions of winning the Scottish Premiership this season.
After months of chipping away at Celtic’s lead before leapfrogging them in the table, it just doesn’t feel like the last few performances have been good enough.
They squandered the opportunity to seize control of the title race against the Hoops and followed that with an utterly poor performance versus County.
Despite the fact that the Gers have suffered from injuries in recent months, the team that started the game in Dingwall should win three points.
The Light Blues must pick themselves up and continue for what is now an even bigger game in the rearranged fixture against Dundee on 17 April.
