The Hoops spent slightly over £19 million (according to Transfermarkt) last summer (2023), bringing eight permanent players and two loanees to Parkhead.

Those arrivals have been scrutinised in the 2023–24 season, with only a few making the cut for Rodgers’ first-choice team.

Rodgers ‘furious’ with Celtic business—he wants full backing this summer

Maik Nawrocki and Gustaf Lagerbielke, both centre-backs, have made only nine Scottish Premiership starts between them.

Rodgers is expected to want full transfer market support this summer following a perceived lack of spending in both windows during the 2023–24 season.

Celtic are financially stable and can authorise large-scale transactions after posting a profit before tax of £40.7 million for the 2022–23 season.

The Hoops enjoyed a seven-point lead in the fight for this season’s Scottish Premiership title when Rangers hired Philippe Clement.

However, the race is currently in the hands of the Gers, with Celtic leading by one point and having played one more game than their opponents.
