“Huge excitement at Parkhead,” Celtic exceptional talent with speed, power, and eye for goal ready to light up the Scottish Premiership next season.

Manager Brendan Rodgers describes Mikey Johnston as “one of the best talents” to emerge from Celtic.

Dundee vs Celtic: Mikey Johnston shines as champions stretch lead

Johnston was voted English Championship Player of the Month for his achievements at West Brom. The winger was loaned away during the winter transfer window after failing to secure a regular starting berth in Rodgers’ squad.

Despite this, the Hoops manager is hoping Johnston, who has seven goals in 14 outings down south, can maintain his good form and return to Celtic ready to make an impact next season.

“What he has demonstrated is no surprise,” Rodgers revealed. “He is one of the best talents to come out of this academy, he is quick, direct, can score goals.

“So for him to get that award – there’s some outstanding players in the championship—shows you how well he has done.

“Hopefully he can continue with that and come back to Celtic in the summer and feel really energised again, full of confidence, and be ready to make an impact.”

Upon receiving the reward, the 24-year-old said: “I’m absolutely delighted to win this individual award, but I’d like to give credit to my team-mates and the manager here.

“Everyone was so quick to welcome me. That then allowed me to hit the ground running, and thankfully, I’ve been able to put in some decent performances and score a few goals.

“We had a really good March, and those results helped put us in the strong position we find ourselves in today.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time here, and I want to keep impressing and improving. We’re all focused on making sure the next few weeks are successful for the club.”
