Prior to permanently rejoining the team on transfer deadline day, Mikey Johnston had been observing West Bromwich Albion in action at the start of the current Championship season. The Irish international is now eager to put on his boots. After departing Celtic in a £3 million transfer, Johnston was able to make his much-needed comeback just in time. Now, he must wait patiently for domestic play to resume following this international break.

Johnston will get to see many of his former teammates, with whom he made a good impression, when Albion travels to Portsmouth the next weekend. However, he is aware that he will need to earn a spot back in the team, which has been playing well while they have been waiting for his return. Under Carlos Corberan, Albion has dominated this season, taking ten of a possible twelve points.

Johnston has been watching the Baggies from a distance and has liked what he has seen. However, he knows he will have a task on his hands to cement a spot again, especially with Karlan Grant’s form in mind. Johnston may have joined Burnley or Sheffield United, but he knew there was only one club for him once Albion emerged with the cash required to buy him out of his Celtic contract.
