‘We did say it would happen and it did.’ Pundits surprise as Everton prediction has come to pass.

Everton appear to have been reborn, and while Saturday’s victory was far from perfect, those three points are critical.

Gary Lineker's new podcast sounds a lot like the one he already has - Tortoise

After all, it has moved them to 15th in the Premier League table, one point behind Crystal Palace and four points clear of the relegation zone.

However, they have yet to receive the results of their most recent PSR case, which is anticipated today.

Regardless, if they continue to score large scores in critical games, it won’t matter. However, the majority of such forms will be based on one man’s ongoing form.

Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker proved right

On this morning’s episode of The Rest is Football podcast, Alan Shearer, Gary Lineker, and Micah Richards briefly discussed Everton’s two impressive results this week.

Naturally, their attention was drawn to Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who ended a goalless skid that had lasted since December with two vital finishes, the first snatching a point from Newcastle United and the second securing all three points against relegation rivals Burnley.

If Calvert-Lewin’s return to form continues throughout these games, it could come at the right time to assure safety once more.

The 27-year-old former Sheffield United striker’s confidence should be high after receiving wonderful endorsements from two legendary English strikers from the past.

However, the former two pundits were more happy with themselves because they had made a forecast about the forward, which has subsequently come true.

Lineker noted: For those that weren’t staying up really late for the midweek Match of the Day’s, there was a bit where Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored his first goal in a hell of a long time with a penalty in midweek.

‘As football happens, he scored again, didn’t he.’ Shearer interjected: ‘We did say that, didn’t we!’

The former Leicester City, Everton and Barcelona striker agreed: ‘We did say it would happen and it did, and it was just one of them where he closes down the keeper and it just smacks it into him and it goes in. It’s mad how your luck can change once you get that goal.’

As Lineker points out, when confidence returns and you break the duck, everything seems to fall into place.

On Saturday, this resulted in an extremely lucky goal in a key game, which ultimately determined the fate of the 1-0 victory.

To claim victory in this fashion is utterly unlike Everton, who have now put themselves in a strong position to avoid relegation once more.

And now, with crucial games against Brentford, Nottingham Forest, Sheffield United, and Luton Town on the horizon, the Toffees will seek to destroy the spirit of their relegation opponents with a streak of good results.
