The Football Association of Finland has announced that Robert Taylor rejected an international call-up this month to stay with Lionel Messi at Inter Miami.
The 29-year-old winger has emerged as one of Tata Martino’s most trusted forwards after the arrival of Lionel Messi, with Taylor’s game improving greatly since the Argentine’s arrival.
The versatile forward scored three goals in six games this season, but with Finland in a key Euro 2024 playoff this month, Taylor was anticipated to leave to compete for his national team.

However, according to the FAF’s official website, Taylor declined to return to Europe to compete for Finland ahead of their playoff semi-final match against Wales, with the winner facing Poland or Estonia for a spot in this summer’s Euros.
As you might think, Taylor’s decision to refuse probably his country’s biggest international match in years has not gone over well with fans on social media.
Given the importance of Finland’s match against Wales and Taylor’s performance over the last eight months, the Inter Miami star might have been critical for the Scandinavian country’s bid to qualify for Euro 2024.
However, Taylor’s decision to remain with Inter Miami has sparked controversy, and the winger may now miss out on this summer’s competition if Finland wins the playoffs.
