Leicester City has opted to ‘fight’ the Premier League after being accused with violating Profit and Sustainability Rules.
According to finance specialist Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that this development is a “game changer for the history of football”.
The Foxes stated on Friday (March 22) that they have filed legal action against both the EFL and the Premier League after being charged with violating financial laws.
The EFL has imposed a registration embargo on Leicester, although the Foxes have appealed the punishment with a quarter of the 2023–24 accounting period still remaining.
If found guilty by an independent committee, Leicester might face a points deduction or a large fine if they get promoted to the Premier League this season.

Maguire added that Leicester is “very unhappy” with the charges and has opted to challenge the Premier League.
“Leicester City’s decision to start proceedings against both the Premier League and the EFL is a game-changer as far as the history of football is concerned,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“Clearly, the club is very unhappy with the way that the two bodies have charged and made proceedings against themselves.
“Therefore, Leicester have now decided to fight back as best they can.“
