Bruno Guimaraes has plans. Plans for the future are vague and undefined. The Newcastle United midfielder, who is beloved by both black and white fans, has recently been linked with a big money exit, and it appears that the player himself is open to such a move. Eventually..Guimaraes spoke to the media after Brazil’s international friendly versus England on Saturday evening.
Guimaraes spoke to the media after Brazil’s international friendly versus England on Saturday evening.
He said: “It’s always been my dream to play here. I’ve always followed the Premier League. It was always my dream to be here.
“I think, ever since I joined Newcastle, everything has been good in my life, both professionally and personally. I’m very happy to be playing among the best in the best league in the world. I absolutely plan to play here for a long time. I have other goals as well, like moving, but this is something more down the line. I’m really happy to be here in the league.”
In short, there is both good and bad news. The good news is that Bruno does not intend to leave anytime soon. The bad news is that he’d prefer to leave at some point. Undoubtedly, the South American’s remarks will excite the curiosity of numerous continental heavyweights, including but not limited to Paris Saint-Germain and, much closer to home, Liverpool.
The Reds are believed to be looking for midfield reinforcements for the second summer in a row as they prepare to bid farewell to the ghost of Thiago Alcantara, and Guimaraes is one of several enticing names with whom they have been associated. Newcastle, for their part, are understandably reluctant to sell, but sharp watchers believe they may be obliged to pawn at least one of their key assets this summer in order to please the vengeful gods of Financial Fair Play.
According to his open interview with the press, Guimaraes would like not to be the player sacrificed, but Newcastle’s commitment will undoubtedly be tried sooner rather than later. To that end, perhaps the Magpies can find a way to ease the blow of losing one of their talismanic figures, if only somewhat.
Bobby Clark, the son of former Newcastle hero Lee, is currently on Anfield’s roster. Indeed, 2023/24 has been a breakthrough season for the teenager, who has made a dozen senior appearances for the Reds, primarily in the heart of midfield but sometimes on the left side. All of the early signals point to his being a talented player with enormous potential and a bright future at the highest level.
