Chris Sutton admitted he was wrong about Newcastle United as Everything goes right for ‘outstanding’ Magpies

Eddie Howe’s squad has risen to sixth in the Premier League, closing the distance on Tottenham Hotspur to four points. Inside the club, there is some thinking that Newcastle United can finish fifth, which is entirely feasible given this result.

It was expected to be a difficult encounter for the Magpies, with commentators Chris Sutton and Paul Merson both failing to forecast a Newcastle victory.

However, despite a slow start in which Burnley created numerous opportunities, Newcastle weathered the storm and went on to secure another convincing victory.

Newcastle won their sixth away game of the season at Turf Moor, completing a convincing double over relegation-threatened Burnley. This trip success was partly due to a 21-minute blitz, with Howe’s team scoring three quick goals in the first half.

Newcastle led 3-0 at halftime thanks to Callum Wilson, Sean Longstaff, and Bruno Guimaraes, and the game was effectively over after 45 minutes.

Alexander Isak added a fourth goal in the second half, tapping in only moments after a penalty was saved. He now has 20 Premier League goals as he continues to have the best season of his career.

Unfortunately, Newcastle were unable to maintain a clean sheet, with Burnley’s Dara O’Shea netting a late consolation.

But that was it, as the Magpies returned to Tyneside with another three points.

Before the game, Sutton predicted a 3-3 tie, but he was entirely incorrect.

And the former Premier League forward has now told BBC Sport that the Magpies were ‘amazing’ on Saturday.

“Newcastle were outstanding,” he said.

“Newcastle need Europe this season and Burnley need a miracle. Burnley were in good form before today but today was brutal and I can’t make a case for them staying up.”

Everything goes right for ‘outstanding’ Newcastle

Newcastle were dominant once they overcame Burnley’s early lead. The only two drawbacks from the encounter were that Howe’s men did not score more and were unable to keep a clean sheet.

Aside from that, the afternoon was quite perfect. Isak maintained his impressive form, and Callum Wilson reached double figures for the season. Lewis Hall excelled at left-back, as did Anthony Gordon in front of him. Sean Longstaff and Jacob Murphy both appeared to have progressed significantly.

On top of that, Joelinton and Miguel Almiron returned from injuries. That’s a significant lift heading into the final three games, and Nick Pope is back on the bench It was a wonderful afternoon.
