England player Kieran Trippier is reportedly “in talks” to have his “contract terminated” with Newcastle United.
The 33-year-old joined the Premier League team in the January transfer window of 2022, becoming one of Newcastle’s first high-profile additions after PIF’s acquisition.
Over the past two seasons, Trippier has made just under 100 appearances for Newcastle, and he has been a key player in the team’s ascent under Eddie Howe.
Due to a modest decline in his play during the previous season, the seasoned defender was strongly linked to a summer transfer.
This season in the Premier League, Trippier has only made one substitute appearance since head coach Howe has favoured Tino Livramento.
Trippier is allegedly “in talks” with Newcastle about “terminating his contract” because Saudi Pro League and Turkish teams are interested in him, according to a report from Caught Offside.
Trippier had opportunities to leave Newcastle in the summer, and CaughtOffside is aware that teams in Europe and beyond are still very interested in signing him.
If Trippier departs Newcastle, Turkish team Eyupspor has extended a one-and-a-half-year contract offer to him. According to sources, Trippier might get bids from Saudi Pro League teams if he leaves Newcastle.
Trippier may end up at Al Nassr or Al Ahli, although neither team has made an official offer for the former England international, who just declared his retirement from international competition.
It is unclear how these negotiations will turn out, but the 33-year-old is demanding to be paid his entire Newcastle salary even if he decides to leave the team.
In the competition to sign Trippier, “Clubs to watch” could include Fenerbahce and Besiktas.
