Eddie Howe, the manager of Newcastle United, has been heavily connected to the open England position.
Due to a lack of utensils Eddie Howe and Gareth Southgate have been compared by former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan.
For the forthcoming matches against the Republic of Ireland and Finland, England’s under-21 manager Lee Carsley has been named interim manager while Southgate is still without a permanent replacement. Howe rose to the top with many former players due to his achievements at Newcastle United.
For two seasons, the 46-year-old Englishman has been the top-ranked player in the Premier League, leading the Magpies to both a Carabao Cup final and the Champions League. His media savvy and playing style also make him a perfect fit for the Three Lions bench.
A lacklustre Tyneside transfer window prompted more doubts about Howe’s potential as the next England manager. Under intense questioning from the media in the summer, the Toon manager acknowledged that he was still “proud” to be managing at St. James’ Park, but he did not completely rule out a move.
The former Palace supremo Jordan rejected ideas that Howe would be an ideal fit, which is sure to irritate Newcastle supporters. He even went so far as to say that, with no titles to his name, he would be no better than Southgate.
Jordan stated to talkSPORT, “I don’t like the idea that there is an excuse for a manager not producing from his team.” “Eddie Howe has done a fantastic job at Newcastle, and he has some excellent players there.” The fact that he hasn’t lost any players has a big benefit. A better centre forward than Newcastle would be Alexander Isak.
