Everton manager Sean Dyche has announced Nathan Patterson’s season is ended ahead of the Toffees’ game against Nottingham Forest.
The Blues will host Nuno Espirito Santos’ team at Goodison Park on Sunday (21 April) in a critical Premier League clash, with only one point separating the two clubs.
While Dyche revealed Jarrad Branthwaite, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and Idrissa Gueye all participated in some kind of training on Friday (19 April), the Everton manager did not say whether any of the four will play.
Thomas wrote in the Liverpool Echo on Friday (19 April): “Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Jarrad Branthwaite trained gently today. Patterson is out for the season.
“Seamus Coleman is touch and go at best for the weekend. Gueye trained today – low-level training.”
Will Everton gem Nathan Patterson be fit to play for Scotland at Euro 2024?
It is not an exaggeration to state that Sunday’s game against Forest could be the most important game of Everton’s season, as a win would be a huge step towards safety for the Toffees this year.
Off-the-field turmoil in recent weeks has masked Dyche’s side’s poor results on the pitch, but if they truly want to avoid relegation this season, they must start winning more games, particularly against teams in and around them.
The big setback at the hands of Chelsea last time out was humiliating, but Dyche and most supporters will be hoping that it spurs the Toffees into action ahead of the final few weeks of the Premier League season.
If Branthwaite, Coleman, Gueye, and Calvert-Lewin are all fit to play on Sunday, Everton’s prospects of not only winning but also remaining in the league would be significantly improved. Hopefully, they all complete their training totally fit.
