Celtic travel to Ibrox today for one of the most anticipated Derby matches in a long time.
The league title is on the line; therefore, the stakes could not be higher. Celtic, under Brendan Rodgers, have typically performed well in these matches, with a strong record versus their city rivals.
Paulo Bernardo, expressing confidence in the squad, emphasised the team’s readiness. With important players recovering from injuries, Celtic’s roster depth appears to be solid, giving Rodgers a variety of tactical choices.
Speaking with the Daily Record, he stated: “That’s good but every game is just one game.
“The past is the past. We have to build again for the future.
“We expect to face a great opponent. Rangers are our rivals so they have to be good too to play against us. So let’s see. The team are confident. Some players have come back from injury too so that’s good for the group.
“There is a lot of competition for places, and that helps the team. Everyone will give the best of themselves to play good football.”
Bernardo made headlines in the last derby, scoring a screamer to open the scoring at Parkhead.
Whether he starts today or not is something we’ll find out at 10.45, but he’ll have a role to play in the game, even if it’s coming off the bench in the second half. We’ve seen Rodgers trust the player in the big games, starting in the Champions League while struggling to get into the first eleven in the league.
