‘Come on…’ Pundit aims dig at Newcastle United hero Bruno Guimaraes during Newcastle’s victory over Burnley.

Guimaraes is not just an excellent ball player, but he also clearly enjoys playing for his club.

It remains to be seen whether he will leave Newcastle this summer, but the passion he has demonstrated since signing from Lyon is undeniable.

All you have to do is look at Eddie Howe’s team’s record without him. He really is that crucial to the cause.

They have not won a single game that the midfielder has missed since joining the club in January 2022.

That enthusiasm he displays on the pitch is simply part of his game, albeit he is more than capable of remaining disciplined.

Indeed, Guimaraes went 12 games without a booking after receiving nine yellow cards in the first 21 games of the season. In doing so, he successfully avoided a two-game suspension.

However, it appears that not everyone is a fan of some of his pranks.

Pundit Chris Sutton was not impressed by Guimaraes’ celebration after a tackle during Saturday’s 4-1 victory over Burnley.

With the score 4-0 at the moment, Sutton felt the behaviour was a little excessive.

Sutton said on  BBC Radio Five Live at 16.25 BST on 04/05/2024: “Bruno Guimaraes celebrating tackling a Burnley player, come on. You’re 4-0 up, you don’t need to celebrate that!”

Bruno Guimaraes is right to celebrate tackles for Newcastle

Guimaraes has celebrated tackles before, and hopefully it will not be the last.

The man plays with such enthusiasm that such actions should come as no surprise.

Sutton misses the point. This is part of the midfielder’s game.

We would not change him for the world.
